The warm light of this Natural Night Light creates a warm and comfortable atmosphere. The heated salt crystal is a natural air purifier: a 15-watt bulb releases negative ions into the air, creating one effect is similar to an ion generator, which can absorb secondhand smoke, pet dander, pollen and other air pollutants in the air to make you breathe smoothly. Regular use helps to reduce its shape. http://fitlife.tv/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/various_salt_lamps_1000.jpg
Last, but not least: Himalayan pink salt lamps are environmentally friendly. While only an estimate, the reserves from which HPS is mined measure somewhere between 80 and 600 million tons and is projected to last for at least another 350 years at the current extraction rate. The base of an HPS lamp is generally carved from a sustainable wood such as neem. Some lamps use a low-wattage bulb which consumes very little energy while others are powered by a lit candle.
This unique large Belcourt Natural 14" Salt Lamp is made from salt crystals gathered at the foothills of the Himalayas; crystals that produce a deeper, darker red glow. Heating the salt with the included bulb releases negative ions into the air, creating an effect similar to an ionizer. The outside surface of the lamp stays cool to the touch, as the heat of the light is dissipated within the salt. Due to the natural variation in rock salt, weight, size, color and shape may vary. I think people should just try them for their selves and make up their own minds. I know a someone that has been a teacher for 30 plus years and she swears by them. She has used these salt lights in her class room for the past 5yrs and like she said it’s just her opinion but her class rooms have been a lot calmer since she’s been using them. SHE has even gone as dark as to have themy off for months just to see if they were truly working. Oh ya she is a elementary teacher. http://saltnatural.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/fancy-lamp.jpg
Thanks for sharing such detailed information about salt lamps. These lamps are really very good. I have them in my home and office and I just love them. They actually clean the air and make it fresh and pure. Their soft glow make the atmosphere so calm and peaceful. I have them in different shapes. I cannot imagine my home without them. You can visit the given website of ittefaq.co to know more about different shapes and sizes of these amazing lamps.

Negative ions bind to positive ions in the environment, neutralizing them before they have a chance to get into our bodies and wreak havoc. Studies have shown negative ions to help increase serotonin and oxygen levels in the brain, which can decrease drowsiness, alleviate stress, and boost energy. In fact, some studies suggest they’re as effective as antidepressants for people experiencing chronic depression or seasonal affective disorder. https://yoursaltlamps.com/wp1/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/himalayan_salt_lamps_banner.jpg
The negative ions in Himalayan salt lamps can help you breathe easier. Inside of our lungs are tiny hairs known as cilia which sweep away impurities. When these impurities are removed, we can breathe more easily. Many breathing problems are linked to tiny particles that are hard to remove with a broom or vacuum in our homes because in many cases, they are not even visible. Therefore, increasing the internal motion of the cilia can help screen out harmful particles that can make breathing difficult. Negative ions released by Himalayan salt lamps can help encourage the sweeping motion of these cilia. https://www.healthyhubb.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/himalayan-salt-lamp-ions.jpg
If you've been wanting to purchase a Himalayan salt crystal lamp for your home, but the natural stone shape hasn't felt quite right, then take a look at the modern allure of a salt lamp carved into a pristine decorative Himalayan salt crystal lamp shape. Cast a regal shine over your personal kingdom with the orb lamp, create a serene space for seeking enlightenment with the pyramid shape, or mimic a row of torches through your foyer with these flame-shaped lamps. https://draxe.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/Himalayan-Salt-Lamp-FB-NLMeme-01.png
As discussed above, “boundless amounts” of negative ions would be a bit of a stretch, given the total and complete lack of any ions generated by our lamp. Ignoring that fact, however, brings us to the claim that positive ions make us feel bad and negative ions make us feel great. In terms of effects on mood, there is some research that suggests that negative ions can play a role in the treatment of seasonal affective disorder. A 1998 study in JAMA psychiatry found, for example, that:
A fireside glow holds a special place in our hearts thanks to the beauty and warmth it casts around it, making an ordinary evening into something special and unique. Now, a busy modern life keeps the majority of us from having the time to get away from the constant barrage of radiation and information that technology is throwing at us. You can get a glow that's just as soothing with even more health benefits with a Himalayan basket salt lamp. https://www.alohabay.com/products/saltlamps/GroupShot5.jpg
Made of the same stuff you might sprinkle on dinner or cook a slab of salmon on, a Himalayan salt lamp consists of a large, often jagged crystal of pink salt fitted with a light bulb inside. (Please do not try to eat this lamp! Why do we have to tell you that?!) Supposedly, the heat from that bulb causes the salt to be released into the air—basically what you'd experience in a salt cave on a much less expensive scale. Think of how you feel after a day at the beach. Science aside, something magical definitely happens to your body after soaking up all that salty ocean air for an afternoon: Your skin's moisturized and clear, and the whole sleep thing? You go down like a rock after a beach day, right? It's not really that far-fetched to try and simulate this in your bedroom. https://hibiscusmooncrystalacademy.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Capture3.png

I did my research and know these can be great and they also can be fakes. This is the real deal and a reputable great company. Well packaged and price is spot on compared for amazon. I have only had it two days now so I can not speak of long term effects, but even simply as a lamp it is relaxing and alluring. I plan to get at least 3 more for our home. https://i1.wp.com/top10rec.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/WBM-Himalayan-Glow-Hand-Carved-Natural-Crystal-Himalayan-Salt-Lamp.jpg?resize

Even though they don’t make a huge difference in negative ions and they aren’t going to be as effective as an air purifier, they make a great addition to a space and definitely have a positive impact in some way. The aesthetic alone makes the lamp worth keeping around, and if it has an effect on the air and helps to calm our minds even in the slightest, then it’s even more worth it! https://holistichealthherbalist.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/the-benefits-of-himalayan-salt-lamps.jpg
At first I was a bit concerned after reading reviews about the dimmer switch (basically a variable resistor) heating up, melting, and causing a fire. My kid bought this Himalayan Pink Salt Lamp for my wife as a Christmas gift because she has been wanting one for a long time. I read up on the fire hazard and noticed that a recall has been placed on this salt lamp. All of the one star rated "fire warning" reviews are from many months or years ago. So I assume that the batch that was sent out has had this dimmer issue fixed. Basically a higher wattage variable resistor is needed to fix this problem.

The structure aspect is important, says Beauchamp. One way to get crystals to generate ions is to alter the shape of its crystal structure via temperature, something that can happen if a crystal structure is asymmetric. He points to a crystal called lithium tantalate, which changes its crystal structure when heated up in such a way as to create areas of high and low electrical potential when heated or cooled. This property allows it to generate an electric field that could, in theory, ionize the air around it. Sodium chloride’s chemical structure is a symmetrical cube that does not have the capability to generate high electric fields in the vicinity of a crystal.

This brings me to my next point. Atoms and molecules are less reactive when their valence electrons are organized in pairs. If they have an odd number of valence electrons, or if they have a few that are not paired together then they are called “free radicals” (Wikipedia). This does not mean that free radicals are only cations (positive ions). They can be cations, anions, or neutral. For example, neutral sodium atoms have one unpaired electron which can participate in chemical reactions with other elements, and Methylene (CH2), has two unpaired electrons on the central carbon atom. Free radicals are also not all bad. Wikipedia also states that free radicals play a key role in biology where they help to regulate the body. Usually when people talk about harmful free radicals they are referring to oxidants which loosely speaking are molecules which take away electrons from cell membranes, proteins, and DNA (cancer-causing mutations) in the human body. This is probably where the idea of free radicals being positive ions comes from because they like to steal electrons. https://i.pinimg.com/736x/ee/c6/d0/eec6d07de13fc939969f42c3e738d306--himalayan-tulip.jpg
Thus, the way Himalayan salt lamps help with anxiety is that they constantly spread negative ions into the air. This is especially great when we are asleep, as it reduces all the anxiety by creating a peaceful environment and helping us achieve better sleep. Since this is naturally found in the caves, it offers the same kind of negative ions that you get from a waterfall or a beach or other places on our planet.

Pink Himalayan salt rock lamps provide a soothing, therapeutic glow to any room in which they’re placed. They could be used as an integral part of an altar or simply tasteful design elements to improve any mystical and meditative space in your home. Whether you’re looking to improve the atmosphere in your home office or create a space that inspires the life you want to live, a Himalayan salt lamp could be the perfect solution.
I purchased this item from Amazon and a year or so later the dimmer switch stopped working. When I took it apart to inspect I found the transistor (which is severely undersized for this design) had overheated and burned up itself and the circuit board. I searched the part numbers online and discovered this is the *exact same* board that has been recalled by other manufacturers (i.e., Micheals). I do not understand why Amazon has not recalled their version of it yet. It is a fire waiting to happen. I would not recommend anyone using this product. https://www.yoursaltlamps.com/prodimages/himalayan_salt_lamps_small_4pack.jpg

That doesn’t mean the people who have experienced benefits are entirely wrong, though. Kogan told SheKnows it’s possible the lamp provides a placebo effect. Essentially, a person believes the salt lamps will help, there’s a psychological component to their issue, and thus the lamp does relieve some of their symptoms. “It’s more of a mind-body effort, really, because it’s not like there’s some kind of biochemical being released from the lamp,” she said.
Another side effect which results from over-exposure to positive ions in the air is that it robs you of quality sleep. This happens because those positively-charged particles can actually reduce blood and oxygen supply to the brain resulting in irregular sleep patterns. Himalayan pink salt lamps are natural negative ion generators, thus they can help to reverse this problem. Keep one or two around your bedroom to improve the air quality so you can get a better night’s sleep. https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/S/mediaservice.woot.com/0a5d28a2-216b-4765-bc09-0f3c23de0827._SX240_.jpg
In January of this year, Michael's issued a recall on some of their salt lamps sold under the Lumière brand. Rest assured, the issue and recall had nothing to do with the Himalayan salt itself but reported hazards with the dimmer switch and plug. If you’re looking to purchase a lamp, talk to the retailer and make sure it has been assembled properly and that the piece you’re interested in was not included in the recall. https://i.ebayimg.com/thumbs/images/g/BDYAAOSwNMVagVQN/s-l225.jpg

So Well Himalayan salt lamps do not generate negative ions themselves. They are “hygroscopic,” which means that they attract moisture… humidity… airborne water molecules; it is a natural property of sodium chloride (hygroscopy). Since they do not generate the negative ions, they need a heat source (in this case, heat from an incandescent bulb) to accelerate evaporation, which does produce negative ions. In more humid regions, an unlit salt lamp will eventually “cry,” even creating puddles of water at its base. It is this evaporation that generates the negative ions, which are beneficial to our health. https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/41rdsyyoiSL.jpg

Since we are constantly surrounded by modern day WIFI, CELL phone towers, Tv’s and other electrical appliances, these things give off a lot of Electro magnetic Radiation or EMFS for short. These EMF’s high in positive ions have been known to reduce our serotonin levels and can cause cancer, fatigue, lathery and a host of problems we face today. Salt lamps, since they have the ability to generate negative ions, neutralize these EMF’s .
To get the greatest healing power from salt lamps several of them should be placed throughout your home and close to electronic devices. One single lamp will have a positive calming effect but it won’t be strong enough to greatly impact your health, having several is the way to go. Check out the video for more information and give salt lamps a try. Your body, mind, and overall health will be better off and all you have to do is switch some lights on! https://i.pinimg.com/736x/21/9c/ca/219cca49a0b40996aa6d0317a5108a48--salt-art-natural-salt.jpg
World renowned Dr. Albert P Krueger, microbiologist and experimental pathologist, “worked with bacteria of the kind that float in the air and spread diseases “ mostly colds, influenza, and other respiratory ills “ and found that an astonishingly small quantity of neg-ions could kill them and quickly take them out of the air so they were less likely to infect people.” The Ion Effect, by Fred Soyka, p. 57, 1991.

Another way to improve the quality of air in your house is by frequently airing the place, so the air can circulate. In the winter months or when there are high levels of air pollution, it might be difficult to leave the windows open and sufficiently air all the rooms. That is when the salt lamps can be particularly useful and can help cleanse the air and remove the stubborn winter bugs.

Salt is hygroscopic, which means it attracts water molecules to itself. Being the big hunk of salt that it is, a Himalayan salt lamp is believed to work by attracting the water molecules. This water vapor can also carry indoor air pollutants like mold, bacteria and allergens. Once the water vapor comes in contact with the salt lamp, the pollutants are believed to remain trapped in the salt. Since the lamp is heated, the salt dries out and is able to continue the cycle of attracting water vapor and pollutants, releasing the water vapor back into the air but holding on to the health-hazardous pollutants. https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/HrkAAOSwNSZa7eZE/s-l640.jpg
Beautiful and relaxing are the 2 main words I use to describe this Salt Lamp. It creates a very peaceful ambiance in the home and I find it to be therapeutic when I do my yoga. It is well made, and has a good weight to it. This salt lamp also has different sets of lighting to adjust from dim, medium and bright. It creates a beautiful atmosphere in any room and I love it.

The strongest evidence supporting any benefit of negative ions is as an antibacterial agent. A 1979 study in the journal Nature showed that high levels of negative oxygen ions could kill bacteria. Ionizers could also reduce the prevalence of surface and airborne bacteria in refrigerators, according to a 2009 study. However, that research applied only to sanitizing food or work surfaces, and did not make any claims about health benefits. https://yoursaltlamps.com/wp1/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/himalayan_salt_lamps_kitchen.jpg

Hi Alex, Himalayan salt lamp is a type of rock salt lamp – they are made from salt crystals from the Himalayan mountain regions and come in variety of shades such as white or orange/pink. There are other rock salt lamps that come from a number of other locations throughout the world (although some claim that the finest quality comes from the Himalaya). https://i.ytimg.com/vi/2DBvRuus6Aw/hqdefault.jpg

Everything around us emits ions, both positive and negative. Do you notice how being outdoors or camping can give you more energy and make you feel rejuvenated? That’s because there are no positive ions, which are emitted by the vast amounts of technology surrounding us, like our cellphones, laptops, and televisions. These ions cause trauma and chemical imbalances in our bodies, and too many could lead to crippling anxiety and apprehension.

Sadly, we live in an age and day where we feel stressed out mostly due to work. Our lives are completely taken over by technology and there is hardly anything we can do to stop it. These wireless technologies tend to spread positive ions into the environment. These ions are actually harmful to us humans as they create an imbalance in our system which is what causes stress and anxiety.
By having a salt lamp in your home you can reduce the presence of positive ions in the air while increasing the amount of negative ions. Basically positive ions are considered to cause problems like hypersensitivity, stress and insomnia. They cause an imbalance in our systems and raise stress and anxiety. Bacteria, molds and allergens all carry a positive charge and the positive ions are also constantly added to our surroundings by electronic devices like laptops, LCDs, microwaves, and other household gadgets. Nature creates negative ions to counter these positive ions . The negative ions increase the oxygen supply to the brain that creates alertness of mind and reduces lethargy and anxiety. https://img.thrivemarket.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/seasalt_ho-blog-2000x1086.jpg

Our 100% premium and authentic Himalayan Salt Lamps come from the highest quality mine in the world - the Khewra Salt Mine in Pakistan. This pristine crystal salt is hundreds of millions of years old and, as a result, has special properties and a high mineral content. The bulb inside the lamp heats the salt causing it to emit negative ions that naturally clean the air in your home. So, in addition to being an original and beautiful work of art, these Himalayan Salt Lamps also have a significant health benefit. To see what sets us apart from the competition, visit our Why Buy From Us page. https://3utkj32z22c5182hg334ib6l-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/pinklampsvarious-300x300.jpg

The bulb inside of the lamp heats the crystal and supports the ionizing effect. Salt itself is hygroscopic and attracts the water from the surroundings. You can often see that the salt lamp is damp or even wet, especially in more humid environments. Due to the gentle heat of the lamp, the water quickly evaporates and during the evaporation process the beneficial negative ions get created. They go on to bind with excessive positive ions (bacteria, molds and allergens all carry a positive charge) and neutralize the electronic smog in your home. https://www.business99.net/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/2-Pack-Natural-Crystal-Himalayan-Salt-Lamp-Himalayan-Glow-Hand-Carved-Natural-With-Genuine-Wood-Base-Bulb-Dimmer-Control-Amber-6-to-8-Inch-6-to-7-lbs.-By-Makony.jpg

Taking a drive through the countryside with the windows down, spending time at the beach or camping in the mountains, or simply taking a shower first thing in the morning are all things that many people find invigorating. It’s not a coincidence that these are all activities which expose us to increased concentrations of negative ions such as those generated by Himalayan salt lamps. The fact is, positive ions sap our bodies of energy. Unfortunately, it’s all too common for us to try to diagnose the problem as something else entirely.
Admittedly, the negative ion claim didn’t come out of nowhere. There was a 1998 study published in the journal of the American Psychological Association, and a few follow-up studies as well, that suggested negative ions could help reduce the effects of seasonal affective disorder and chronic depression. But the reality is there aren’t any studies suggesting the lamps provide anywhere near the levels of negative ions to have an effect, and when Negative Ions Information Center tested salt lamps for negative ion output, they found so few it was hard to measure. http://www.holisticproductsireland.com/image/cache/data/Salt%20lamps/81IY66qnJ5L._SL1500_-700x700.jpg
