Bacteria, molds and allergens all carry a positive charge and the positive ions are also constantly added to our surroundings by electronic devices like laptops, LCDs, microwaves, and other household gadgets.  Positive ions are considered to cause problems like hypersensitivity, stress and insomnia. Basically, the positive ions cause an imbalance in our systems and raise stress and anxiety. https://himalayansaltlampstore.ca/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/maple-leaf-salt-lamp-usb-mini.jpg

The structure aspect is important, says Beauchamp. One way to get crystals to generate ions is to alter the shape of its crystal structure via temperature, something that can happen if a crystal structure is asymmetric. He points to a crystal called lithium tantalate, which changes its crystal structure when heated up in such a way as to create areas of high and low electrical potential when heated or cooled. This property allows it to generate an electric field that could, in theory, ionize the air around it. Sodium chloride’s chemical structure is a symmetrical cube that does not have the capability to generate high electric fields in the vicinity of a crystal.
“The lady doth protest too much…” This article suggests to me that the writer or those who have paid to writer has a hidden agenda. And I’ll cite that science has made our world into a shit hole where we are now browbeaten into accepting and trusting conventional gangster snake oil medicine, pesticides, herbicides, fluoride, mercury laced vaccines, etc., and so on, all of which is touted to be good for us but which is poison to us while we are ridiculed and discouraged by science “experts” from using natural solutions. Science and scientists have betrayed us. And why? Because they are funded by those who want to continue to poison us. If the writer of this article is in earnest, then the writer has been thoroughly, successfully indoctrinated into serving on the wrong side of history. https://www.healthline.com/hlcmsresource/images/topic_centers/Food-Nutrition/1296x728_HEADER_himalayan-salt-lamp.jpg
Your Himalayan salt lamp will be perfect no matter what, well, because it's yours! The carved salt is sculpted naturally, so no two lamps are the same, making your salt lamp a statement piece. Some salt lamps feature a dimmer option allowing you to control the amount of light they emit, creating a very peaceful glow. There are many different sizes of salt lamps, from small to extra-large, so you can fit them perfectly in every open space. The salt crystal lamp is the perfect purifier, because it also acts as a decorative accent piece to your bedroom, bathroom, living room, kitchen, dining room and more! You'll be ready to rejuvenate and heal spiritually with Spencer's selection of salt lamps. The relaxing ambiance creates extra positive energy for easy living. Himalayan salt lamps are a must-have when you're looking for peace of mind and a healthier lifestyle. Why buy a regular lamp when you can buy a salt lamp that provides you with a Himalayan glow from an included light bulb and also purifies your air at the same time? Light up your life and remove negative ions with a natural lamp made from pure salt.

Incidentally, that nice pinkish color that glows once the bulb is turned on is the only thing you are going to get from a salt lamp. Salt lamps may look neat, but claims that they can do anything medically rely — fatally — on the claim that the lamps produce negative ions and then further rely on a series gross simplifications or misinterpretations of science to argue that those negative ions (which don’t exist in the first place) could affect you in any meaningful way. https://himalayansaltboutique.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-easycart-data/products/pics1/4%20Four%2011-14%20lb.%20Salt%20Lamps%20Pack_e4fb4802910108ff1b758a779ef43a0b.jpg

That doesn’t mean the lamps are totally harmless. The retailer Michaels had to recall several due to shock and fire hazards in January 2017, and Kogan says it’s possible the lamp could pose problems for people who are already struggling with lung issues. “Some people with interstitial lung disease, such as pulmonary fibrosis for example, or cystic fibrosis, they may be sensitive to the salt particles themselves,” Kogan acknowledged. http://www.natural-salt-lamps.com/wp-content/uploads/5-7lbshimalayansaltlamps-200x300.jpg

Since positive ions are often created by electronic devices like computers, TVs, microwaves, and even vacuum cleaners, they can often exacerbate problems like allergies, stress and sleep trouble. Negative ions can neutralize positive ions (they bond together) and help cleanse the air. Additionally, salt lamps offer a soothing glow that many people find relaxing. http://www.healthandhealthyliving.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/10-reasons-to-have-a-himalayan-salt-lamp-in-every-room-of-your-home.jpg
Mauritane Salt Lamp is not only visually stunning but provides innumerable health benefits. It is natural negative ion generators. Simply put, salt attracts moisture. The interaction of humid air with the surface of the salt crystal releases negative ions. The negative ions bind to the position ions that are created by electronic devices known as “electronic smog” (computers, television screens, telephones, microwaves, etc.). The positively charged ions lose their damaging...
We have already talked about the fact that the environment in this technological world in which we live is full of positive ions. They make our organisms unbalanced and increase the chance of stress controlling our lives. On the other hand, negative ions, which are found in nature (mountains, forests, beaches), allow us to protect ourselves from that stress. They make us feel more energized and in tone. https://static1.squarespace.com/static/5914b7ca46c3c432a410a716/t/5a1338a5652dea9417030c74/1511209135649/saltlamp-benefitsbanner-01.png?format

[…] While some dispute the health claims of this type of salt, saying the mineral content is too small to make any sort of recognizable difference, many others use Himalayan salt as a healthy addition to their diet. Some people even enjoy the soft glow of a Himalayan salt lamp in their house as it is said to reduce positive ions in the home environment, improving health and well-being. […]
I have wanted one of these lamps for close to twenty years and now I finally have one!! It is super stylish and functional. I put it on a table in my meditation room (ooh how fancy). Seriously I love it - the pink lamp just radiates warmth, light, and healing energy. So lovely!! I would highly recommend it for anyone who wants something special for their library, office, living room etc. https://assets.marthastewart.com/styles/wmax-570/d20/himalayan-salt-lamps/himalayan-salt-lamps.jpg?itok
"Salt crystal is naturally hygroscopic, absorbing water molecules from the air. You will notice if your salt lamp remains unlit for long periods of time, it will begin to 'cry.' The heat from a small light bulb keeps these beautiful crystals dry and in turn releases negative ions (the healthy ones found in abundance in places like oceans, waterfalls, even your shower) into the air," according to the site. http://www.usefulinnovation.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Himalayan-salt-lamp-with-dimmer-switch.jpg
In addition, the color of the salt affects how your mind perceives the lighting. Himalayan Salt Lamps primarily emit color in three shades: yellow, brown and orange. According to Very Well Mind, yellow has a tendency to promote feelings of warmth and energy, while orange gives the feeling of enthusiasm. Brown can help the growth of emotions involving strength and reliability. http://davinahearne.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/himalayan-salt-lamps.jpg
I purchased this item from Amazon and a year or so later the dimmer switch stopped working. When I took it apart to inspect I found the transistor (which is severely undersized for this design) had overheated and burned up itself and the circuit board. I searched the part numbers online and discovered this is the *exact same* board that has been recalled by other manufacturers (i.e., Micheals). I do not understand why Amazon has not recalled their version of it yet. It is a fire waiting to happen. I would not recommend anyone using this product. https://www.yoursaltlamps.com/prodimages/himalayan_salt_lamps_small_4pack.jpg

A 2013 study in the journal BMC Psychiatry reviewed data from several studies found that overall, negative air ionization has no overall effect on anxiety, mood, sleep or personal comfort. However, those studies did document a slight reduction in depressive symptoms, with higher levels of impact from higher concentrations of negative ionization. The analysis also showed a slight improvement in seasonal affective disorder, even with lower ion concentrations. The explanation for this weak effect is that the sun's stronger rays in the summer produce more negative ions than during the winter, and negative ionizers are potentially mimicking those summer-like conditions, said Dr. Alan Manevitz, a psychiatrist at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. However, a more established way to mimic summer conditions is with light therapy, which has been studied more extensively, he said.
Hi Nancy, I’ve read a comment of a lady who advised that When not using the lamp for long periods of time, don’t leave your lamp in a humid room, as it attracts moisture from the air (as part of its function) and it began to weep all over her furniture. I have also read a recommendation of Himalayan salt lamps manufacturer that recommends placing your Himalayan salt lamp onto a decorative plate or holder to avoid it leaving marks on furniture. The manufacturer also recommends that if you plan on having your lamp switched off for an extended period, he recommends unplugging the power cord, separating the cord from your salt lamp, and wrapping the salt lamp in a plastic bag to keep it air tight. This will prevent the lamp from pooling water.
This unique large Belcourt Natural 14" Salt Lamp is made from salt crystals gathered at the foothills of the Himalayas; crystals that produce a deeper, darker red glow. Heating the salt with the included bulb releases negative ions into the air, creating an effect similar to an ionizer. The outside surface of the lamp stays cool to the touch, as the heat of the light is dissipated within the salt. Due to the natural variation in rock salt, weight, size, color and shape may vary. The salt comes to you today in the form of a lamp, which, when lit, gives off what might be called a primordial glow, one part sunset, one part molten lava, creating a light source that has captivated all who see it. People say they love to sit beside our salt lamps because they feel soothing, calming and relaxing at that time. Some take it as an aid to sleep while they use as salt night light. Friends, lover and families would appreciate this special and lovely gifts as they could fit it in almost every room (living room, bedroom, office, yoga room, meditation room, Spa room, restaurant or coffee table. in every special moment (Valentine’s Day, Christmas, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, birthday, Thanks Giving, graduation, and anniversary). The termite free & corrosion free wood is harvested from Neem tree from Pakistan and best suitable wood for salt lamps. https://mountainvalleycenter.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/saltlamp2-2.jpg

Also, your citation of an EPA website is useless. It just links to the EPA’s IAQ site, which isn’t helpful in trying to figure out what you actually were using from the site. I don’t think I’d use WebMD as a source either if you want to appear reputable to the more intelligent people who can spot bullshit. (Not say WebMD doesn’t have valuable info. Kinda like Wikipedia, a lot is useful and valid, but I would never use it as a source.) https://www.tibetansalts.com/images/Pillar_4pack.jpg
Nature creates negative ions to counter positive ions . The negative ions increase the oxygen supply to the brain thus creates alertness of mind and reduces lethargy and anxiety. An example of experiencing wonders of this effect is when you go for walk by riverside or enjoy serenity of a waterfall. The air saturated with negative ions makes you feel happy and relaxed . http://cli.net/wp-content/gallery/crafted-salt-lamp/salt-lamp-pyramid.jpg

Some electromagnetic waves carry so much energy per quantum that they have the ability to break bonds between molecules. In the electromagnetic spectrum, gamma rays given off by radioactive materials, cosmic rays and X-rays carry this property and are called ‘ionizing radiation’. Fields whose quanta are insufficient to break molecular bonds are called ‘non-ionizing radiation’. Man-made sources of electromagnetic fields that form a major part of industrialized life — electricity, microwaves and radiofrequency fields — are found at the relatively long wavelength and low frequency end of the electromagnetic spectrum and their quanta are unable to break chemical bonds. http://www.naturallivingideas.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/salt-lamps-2-1.jpg
